Depends ... Having already lived on their own or with parents / family?

If you sell on for the first time, you can not go wrong with things for the kitchen. When I moved, I do not think the money for my old mother, a microwave available and some courts, which I bought at the flea market.

If you are combining households and have many needs, then I would go with something more personal, like a plant, wine (or coffee, if there is more than you) or something for the walls.

If you really do not get stuck, there is still the good old Wal-Mart gift card. ;)

Avoid using candles. Every man and his mother are the candles as a gift to open. Two years later I'm still working my way through this, what I have gathered.

If you just moved into a house, give them a gift card from Lowe's, Home Depot store or the like. As disgusting as it sounds, my husband had to buy them. It seemed that a trip to one of these stores every day for the little things that normally repaired or replaced by our host when we rented.

I you are a tenant, probably fill up very little space and lots of "stuff" too. A gift card for dinner for two people (not having dates after unpacking sure that the cook is nice!) Or something like a trigger for a good bottle of wine, coffee or hot chocolate and a little Bailey.

Is this the first time, one of them on their own .. Perhaps a night "date" in a box (because the money could be very small). They could be a greeting card, some movies, make popcorn, a movie-size candy, etc. Even some non-alcoholic drinks could throw in a gift voucher order to rent a pizza.

If money is not good for them, then I would be a good bottle of wine, a flower arrangement, etc. Good luck.

Towels, blankets, a gift card from Wal-Mart, dishes, cups, plates.

The towels are probably the most common housewarming gift.

Many people make candles, but them something really useful.
